As far as mid-weight naked bikes go, it's hard to find anything on the market that matches the KTM 890 Duke R Super Scalpel for agility, speed and jealousy-inducing aesthetics.
The original Super Scalpel dropped onto our showroom floor back in 2020 and drew plenty of appreciation from both our team and our customers. Nearly two years later, KTM treated its showcase middleweight bike to a timely overhaul and we think it’ll have race-centric riders scrambling for the credit card.

The 2022 KTM 890 Duke R Super Scalpel retains many of the features that made it a menace on both twisting mountain roads and the race track. Load-bearing tubular steel chassis matched with adjustable WP APEX suspension accounts for it’s lightning-fast steering geometry.
When you’re going all guns blazing, you’ll be confident of stopping on a dime with the Brembo braking system backing you up. A 320mm front disc sits in a monoblock Brembo Stylema calliper with a Brembo MCS master cylinder giving you precise control. Sticky Michelin Power Cup 2 tires give top-notch grip on all surfaces and in tough weather conditions.
Cornering ABS and Cornering MTC come as standard. The 6D lean angle sensor sounds complex but all you need to know is it gives you the control to get your traction control absolutely dialled in, just how you like it.

The KTM 890 Duke R Super Scalpel also has four ride modes, nine different levels of adjustable traction slip control, anti-wheelie on/off and adjustable throttle control settings. That’s your ride customisation sorted down to the smallest detail.
The biggest difference between the 2020 and 2022 edition of this potent machine is the way it looks. The latest edition now features a lick of premium ‘Atlantic Blue’ matt paint to bring it inline with the other R models.
With its new look to match its performance and character, the KTM 890 DUKE R once again promises to be a track-ready machine you’ll want to ride every day.
